GSP airport unveils new restaurants
Date: July 16, 2014
Today, Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is getting a little more food...and beer.
The airport officially unveils two new restaurants today, Thomas Creek Grill and RJ Rockers Flight Room, located in Concourse A and B respectively. The two eateries bring new food options to GSP's rather desolate food scene and bring a taste of Upstate culture as well.
The restaurants are part of the airport's $125 million renovation project that is scheduled to be complete in 2016.
Currently, the airport has a snack bar and the Windows Restaurant, but adding more food options was an important component of the Wingspan project, said GSP Spokeswoman Rosylin Weston.
"That is one thing travelers have said they wanted over the years, Weston said.
The two restaurants are the result of a partnership between the airport's food service company, MSE Branded Foods and two Upstate breweries. Both Thomas Creek Brewery and RJ Rockers Brewing Co. have been creating brews in Greenville for over 15 years. Both have helped lay the groundwork for the Upstate's current craft beer culture. Thus, the collaboration was a natural fit, Weston said.
