GSP Records Record Passenger Traffic
Date: April 13, 2012
Greer, SC – The twelve month period between March 2011 and February 2012 was the best March through February timeframe ever at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP).
Between March 2011 and February 2012, the first twelve months of Southwest service at GSP, passenger traffic grew to more than 1.8 million. This boast in passenger traffic can be credited to the arrival of Southwest Airlines coupled with a strong competitive response from the other carriers operating out of GSP. “The Southwest Effect here in the Upstate has been tremendous. This community has really shown Southwest Airlines what the Upstate is all about,” said Dave Edwards, GSP Airport District President/CEO.
Since the arrival of Southwest, GSP has average a 40 percent increase in passenger traffic month after month. Almost every airline operating out of GSP has seen significant increases in passenger traffic.
