GSP hosting Wings for All event

GREER, S.C.—Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) is partnering with The Arc of South Carolina to host a Wings for All® event May 18 beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Wings for All® is an airport rehearsal program designed for individuals diagnosed with Autism and other intellectual disabilities. The event is free but registration is required (click here to register). Space is limited.

“GSP looks forward to once again hosting this event,” said Kim Davis, GSP’s customer service and community relations manager. “Travel can be overwhelming, especially for little ones, and we recognize the need to do what we can to help families know what to expect to make the experience as smooth as possible.”

Delta Air Lines and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will also participate in Wings for All®. Families will check-in at a Delta ticket counter before going through the security checkpoint and to their gate on the concourse. They will also board an airplane and taxi alongside the runway before returning to the gate to deplane. Families are encouraged to bring luggage to experience picking it up at baggage claim, too.

"This opportunity is really priceless for the families we serve,” said Breanna Neely, project director for The Arc of South Carolina. “I have had the pleasure of reading countless success stories about families who are able to travel by air after participating in this program."

The Arc is the largest national community-based organization advocating for and serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The nonprofit’s Wings for All® events are designed to alleviate the stress that families who have a child with autism or intellectual and developmental disabilities experience when flying.
