Supply Chain Internship

The intern will be trained on how to:

  • Operate aircraft ground support equipment
  • Physical and electronic acceptance of cargo for international export
    • Screening
    • Dangerous Good processing
  • Import/Export
    • Documentation
    • Cargo manifesting
    • Weight and balance manifests
  • Ramp duties will include:
    • Physical loading and unloading of aircraft
    • Palletized loads
    • Reading and implementing cargo load sheets
    • Marshalling
    • Operate equipment at and around the aircraft
  • Other duties as assigned will include evenings & weekend shifts.

Education Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree program with a regionally accredited institution
  • Starting or in the final year of the degree program
  • Must have completed courses related to Supply Chain Management, Airport Management, Cargo Broker, or Business Degree programs
  • A minimum of a 2.5 GPA on a 4 point scale at the time the application is submitted
  • Letter of recommendation from an appropriate faculty member
  • Resume that includes relevant classes taken and any work history
  • Letter stating reasons for interest in the internship
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills

Experience Requirements

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to plan, organize, and set priorities

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Maintains a valid driver’s license
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer is necessary, including skills in
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database products, or Windows

  • Diligence must be exercised when handling confidential information
  • Reasonable care for equipment/process will prevent injury/damage

Working Conditions

  • Physical Demand - Use of personal protective equipment is required. Exposed to heat, cold, rain, and snow in a noisy environment. Must possess the ability to perform strenuous physical activities such as lift items weighing 70 pounds or more, engage in sustained physical exertion and perform arduous work under adverse conditions and maintain physical fitness pertinent to the work.
  • Mental and/or Visual Demand - Mental and visual demands are high and vary with function performed. Consistent mental attention needed to respond safely and efficiently.
  • Attentiveness to work procedure will reduce potential risk of injury in work areas.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, and depth perception. Employee is required to have the visual acuity to analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal.
  • Exposed to normal aviation environment
  • This position requires uncommon tours of duty to include but not limited to weekends and holidays, rotating shift assignments and overtime duty
  • May be subject to recall after normal duty hours
