The SC DMV is now issuing REAL IDs

Beginning October 1, 2020, federal law requires your driver’s license or identification card to be REAL ID compliant to board a domestic, commercial flight.

Passengers flying out of GSP will need the following to board a domestic flight:

  • A current, unexpired driver’s license or identification card will be accepted at airport security through September 30, 2020.
  • Beginning October 1, 2020, passengers boarding a domestic flight must have a driver’s license or identification card with a gold star indicating it is a REAL ID.    REAL_ID_resized_for_web.jpg
  • A valid U.S Passport, military identification, or another accepted federal identification may be used instead of a state-issued driver’s license or identification card.

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is now issuing REAL IDs at all locations. Greenville-Spartanburg Airport is making it even easier for you! SC DMV mobile office will be on-site on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 to issue REAL IDs.

Location: GSP Conference Center (located on the north end of the 1st floor)


People interested in purchasing a REAL ID must bring with them or the SCDMV must already have on file original or government-issued copies of all of the following:

  • Proof of Identity (Government-issued birth certificate or valid US Passport)
  • Proof of Social Security Number
  • Two Proofs of Current, Physical SC Address
  • Proof of All Legal Name Change(s)
